What is the "Invoice date" and how is it determined per integration?
The invoice date determines which VAT return period a transaction falls into. The date used differs per platform, such as the payment date, shipment date, or completion date.
The invoice date is the date Staxxer uses to determine which VAT return period a transaction falls into. Depending on the platform you sell on, this date is determined differently — as each platform provides different data.
Invoice date per platform
Amazon
The invoice date is the transaction complete date — the moment Amazon marks the transaction as completed. This corresponds to the "Transaction Complete Date" field from the Amazon VAT report.
Shopify
For shipments, Staxxer uses the date the fulfillment was created. For returns, the date the refund was processed is used.
WooCommerce
The invoice date is the payment date of the order. If no payment date is available, the order completion date is used as a fallback.
Bol.com
The invoice date is the shipment date as provided by Bol.com. When processing via the invoice specification, the order date is used.
Kaufland
The invoice date is the order creation date in the Kaufland system.
Overview

| Shopify | Fulfillment date / Refund date | Depends on whether it's a shipment or return |
| WooCommerce | Payment date | Falls back to completion date if payment date is missing |

How is the invoice date used for VAT?
The invoice date determines which return period (month or quarter) a transaction is included in. If a transaction is linked to an order, Staxxer uses the order date for VAT decisions. If no linked order is available, the invoice date is used as a fallback.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the invoice date differ per platform? Each platform provides different data through their API. Staxxer selects the most relevant and reliable date per platform for VAT reporting purposes.
Can I manually adjust the invoice date? No, the invoice date is automatically determined based on the data from the sales platform. This ensures consistency and reliability in your VAT returns.
I see a difference between the order date and the invoice date — is that correct? Yes, that's possible. The order date is the moment the customer places the order. The invoice date is the moment the transaction is actually completed, paid, or shipped — depending on the platform. These dates can therefore differ.
