What exactly is the One Stop Shop (OSS)? Do I need to file returns myself, or can you handle it for me?
Explanation of the OSS scheme, the obligation to pay VAT in the destination country for cross-border sales exceeding €10,000, and the option to file a single return via the OSS.
The OSS (One Stop Shop) is a scheme that allows you to file VAT returns for multiple countries in one go. This applies when your cross-border sales in Europe exceed €10,000. For sales above this threshold, VAT must be paid in the destination country (the country where your package is delivered). If your cross-border sales are below €10,000, you pay the VAT rate of the shipping country.
If your sales exceed €10,000, you can either register for the OSS or register separately in each country. Through the OSS, you can file all your returns at once, and the tax authorities will distribute the VAT amounts to the relevant countries.
